DESCRIPTION
This silent 1950s film compilation offers a fascinating blend of time-lapse photography of plants and detailed observations of animal behavior. It begins with the blossoming and withering of various flowers, including hydrangeas, daffodils, nasturtiums, lilies, and chrysanthemums. These time-lapse sequences show the dynamic growth processes of plants, with flowers blooming, turning towards light sources, and eventually wilting.
The film transitions to nature scenes, featuring a snapdragon flower cluster, a rattlesnake moving through leaf litter, and a pond transitioning through seasons. It includes the hatching of baby turtles, a garter snake crawling over a hand, and a constrictor snake curling up. There are scenes of small pond turtles basking on rocks, a black snake being handled to show its dryness, and a snapping turtle laying eggs and covering them with soil.
Further animal observations include a skink being gently picked up from the grass, turtle hatchlings emerging from a sand nest, and a black rat snake swallowing a mouse in a barn. The film concludes with a focus on smaller creatures, such as small fish swimming in a pond and snapping turtle hatchlings crawling to the water's edge.
