DESCRIPTION
The film discusses liverworts and mosses, primitive land plants found in humid places near water sources. Liverworts have two groups: true mosses with stems and leaves, and leafy liverworts without stems or leaves. They reproduce through sexual and asexual means, with asexual sporophytes producing spores for reproduction. Alternation of generations between sexual and asexual stages characterizes their life cycle, involving male and female structures for sexual reproduction and spores for asexual reproduction. Liverworts also reproduce vegetatively through budding and jemmy cups, showcasing a diverse reproductive strategy. We digitized and uploaded this film from the A/V Geeks 16mm Archive.
