DESCRIPTION
Opens with a comparison of riding horses with work horses. Diagrams then define heredity and environment. Shows how cows may be bred for a particular hereditary quality, and how they are cared for in a favorable environment. Lists three general points: offspring tend to resemble their parents, offspring vary, and offspring tend toward the average. Illustrates these points with scenes of kittens and pigeons; then shows how Hank, the farm boy, also conforms to them. Pictures Hank as he might have been with the same heredity but different environment. As Hank is shown repairing a fence, studying, and engaged in other activities, the commentator points out that to improve one's surroundings is to influence one's environment.
