DESCRIPTION
This 1960s compilation juxtaposes scenes of historical re-enactments and scientific exploration. The historical segments focus on Oliver Cromwell, with multiple depictions of him in various settings, from writing at a desk with a quill to sitting on horseback after a battle, as well as portraits with family members. Pioneer life is also shown, with a man and his family in a log cabin, and medieval scenes depict the nailing shut of homes during the plague. The industrial era is represented by steamboats on rivers, British galleon ships, and sailors working at docks. In contrast, the scientific segments delve into optical experiments in a laboratory, featuring intricate light and mirror setups, blue and white lights, and instruments measuring refraction and spectrum. These scenes focus on beams of light converging, refracting through prisms, and revealing rainbows on monitors. The contrast between historical depictions and cutting-edge scientific experiments offers a broad perspective on both the past and the technological advancements of the 1960s. We digitized and uploaded this film from the A/V Geeks 16mm Archive. Email us at footage@avgeeks.com if you have questions about the footage and are interested in using it in your project.
