DESCRIPTION
Hospital Sepsis - A Communicable Disease (1959)
Wow! People sneezing in slow-mo etc. Visualizes means by which infection, particularly staphylococcal, is introduced, spread and carried in a hospital, and suggests general principles for control. Establishes the concept that hospital sepsis is a disease and unless care is used it can spread throughout an entire hospital infecting other patients. Presents a controlled experiment in which a patient with a ten-year history of boils enters the hospital and through a series of tests potential paths of infection from her to other patients are traced. Steps among all hospital personnel to combat its spread are stressed.
