This film follows Tommy, a young boy delivering newspapers, who encounters prejudice when his club refuses to accept Carlos, a Mexican boy. Tommy grapples with the unfairness and his own complicity, ultimately influenced by his Uncle Gus. Gus, a world traveler, uses a personal story and a sermon about seeing beyond differences to help the club members, including Tommy and his friends Duke and Raymond, reconsider their views. The narrative culminates in a vote at the club, aiming to foster understanding and acceptance among the boys, highlighting themes of overcoming prejudice and the importance of looking beyond superficial differences.
