Mouseland (1980)

"Mouseland" is an allegorical tale about a community of mice living under the governance of cats. Despite the mice voting for different parties of cats, their laws consistently favor the cats and make life increasingly difficult for the mice. The story highlights the futility of electing leaders who do not represent the interests of the governed. Eventually, a mouse proposes that they should elect mice to govern themselves, emphasizing that while they can imprison a mouse, they cannot imprison an idea.
