DESCRIPTION
The film recounts the events leading up to D-Day during World War II, focusing on the crucial decisions made by Allied leaders, particularly General Dwight D. Eisenhower, as they prepare for the invasion of Nazi-occupied France. Tensions arise between Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill regarding the invasion strategy, ultimately leading to a decision for Operation Overlord to commence in early June 1944. As the Allies prepare, German defenses are deemed inadequate, and despite bad weather threatening the operation, Eisenhower makes the pivotal decision to proceed with the invasion on June 6, 1944. The film depicts the chaos and bravery of the landing forces, especially at Omaha Beach, where heavy resistance leads to significant casualties but ultimately allows the Allies to establish a foothold in Europe.
