DESCRIPTION
This educational documentary follows 7th-grade art students from Hughes Junior High School in Woodland Hills, California, as they create a 16mm film about the travels of Marco Polo. The film captures the entire production process, from research and planning to the construction of scenery and papier-mâché figures, problem-solving with special effects, camera operation, and film processing. It also emphasizes photographic composition and concludes with the screening of their final project. While some still imagery of the filmmaking process is described as uninspiring, the film itself is regarded as an engaging and impressive student production.
